HEALING THE INVISIBLE WOUNDS OF WAR THROUGH THE GAME OF GOLF

THE WARRIORS JOURNEY GOLF

our mission

The Warrior’s Journey Golf exists to inspire combat-wounded veterans through the game of golf, complemented by intentional community, structured group experiences, and focused life coaching. Our mission is to provide long-lasting inspiration, renewed purpose, and meaningful connection for warriors navigating life beyond service.

why golf

Golf is a game that can take you to places you would otherwise never have the opportunity to go. It introduces you to people you would otherwise never meet and opens doors that may never be accessible outside of the game.

For wounded veterans, golf becomes more than a sport. It becomes a bridge to opportunity, camaraderie, and confidence. It creates space for meaningful conversation, personal challenge, and shared experience in an environment built on respect, discipline, and tradition.

facing challenges

Whether challenges arise on the battlefield, at work, at home, or all three, resiliency is what allows warriors and families to move forward during times of profound personal trial.

We believe resiliency is multi-dimensional, encompassing physical, mental, social, and spiritual strength. At the core of all resilience is spiritual strength, anchored by faith in God. A living faith provides unshakable hope and a clear sense of purpose, enabling warriors to endure, heal, and prevail through life’s most difficult seasons.

OUR STORY

For nearly 24 years, our work has been rooted in a deep commitment to serving wounded service members through the game of golf.

Founder Russ Holden, a PGA of America Life Member, spent nearly two decades working alongside Bernhard Langer while leading the Caddy For A Cure program. That program provided disabled veterans with the opportunity to caddy for PGA TOUR professionals during Pro-Am events, creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences and meaningful relationships with professional golfers, military leaders, and fellow veterans.

Through this work, Russ developed strong relationships with wounded veterans from across the country and gained first-hand insight into how golf could positively impact their lives far beyond the course.

our purpose and impact

While many organizations do exceptional work addressing the physical wounds of combat, the invisible wounds often go unrecognized. These unseen struggles can lead to isolation, broken relationships, addiction, and far too often, suicide.

The Warrior’s Journey Golf focuses on recognizing and addressing these invisible wounds before they become a crisis.

Working alongside a data team at Harvard Business School and the United States Chaplain Corps at the Pentagon, TWJG identified the most common challenges faced by warriors during and after military service. These challenges span physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions.

By addressing these issues proactively, TWJG works to build long-term resilience and preventative support, not just momentary relief. Our work extends beyond individual participants to positively impact families, friends, and the broader wounded warrior community.

a bigger vision

While TWJG events are life-changing for participants, we also see a much larger opportunity to impact the extended wounded community.

The experiences created through TWJG help expand awareness, inspire conversation, and grow the game of golf within the wounded warrior community. Through storytelling, media exposure, and community engagement, TWJG continues to amplify its message of hope, resilience, and purpose.

MOMENTS OF COURAGE AND CONNECTION

stand with those who served

For many wounded veterans, the hardest battles come after service. Healing requires more than time, it requires connection, purpose, and people willing to walk alongside them.

Your generosity helps create spaces where veterans find community, encouragement, and renewed strength through golf and shared experience. When you give, you help remind them they are not walking this road alone.
